Students from universities (of applied sciences) from Holland and Belgium get a chance to demonstrate their research skills to a wide audience. The Student Research Conference takes place on the 14th and 15th of October 2010, during which an award will be presented for the best and most relevant research. >> No reactions

It’s uncertain whether the fitness areas in both Deventer and Enschede will still be open after the summer holidays. Currently, there isn’t a great deal of interest in these facilities and as a consequence they may have to be closed down. >> No reactions

Student launches online thesis library

Nearly all 85,000 higher education graduants write a thesis, but after the ceremony, most of these theses are left to collect dust. Unnecessary, says Elazar Evers. He has launched a website for everyone to publish their thesis. >> No reactions

Students do not seem to be overly concerned with securing their computers, either at home or at university. Most of them know their PC security needs improvement, but only a few of them take action. >> No reactions

Saxion’s School of Excellence to receive funds

Saxion will receive 2.25 million Euros from the Dutch Ministry of Education. The public funds are meant to assist the University in attracting excellent students. Saxion applied for the grant before but lost out to other competing schools. However, Mr. Plasterk, Dutch Education Minister, made more funds available and this time Saxion did receive the nod. >> No reactions
